Defending Recopa (South American Super Cup) holders LDU Quito have successfully defended their title after seeing off Argentinians Estudiantes de La Plata in the second leg of the 2010 edition. After the first leg saw them win their home tie 2-1 against the 2009 Copa Libertadores holders, LDU Quito held out for a 0-0 draw in the return leg played in Quilmes, Buenos Aires last night and secure the latest in a string of continental silverware for Ecuador’s most successful club of modern times. Having triumphed in the 2008 Copa Libertadores, LDU Quito won the Copa Sudamericana in 2009 and those two titles allowed them to participate in the Recopa which they have now won in successive years and they now join Sao Paulo and Boca Juniors as the only clubs to have achieved this feat.
