CONMEBOL: Copa Libertadores gets under way in 2011
The 2011 Copa Libertadores, South America’s elite club football competition, got under way last night with the first match taking place in Brazil.
Fluminense, Libertadores finalists in 2009, got their campaign under way at home to Argentinos Juniors and it would prove to be a tale of two goal scorers in what was an exciting game.
Franco Neill gave the visiting Argentinian side the lead just a minute before half-time but his Brazilian counterpart Rafael Moura would restore parity in the 58th minute. A thrilling second half continued with Neill scoring his second goal with twenty minutes of the match remaining only for Moura to bag a brace himself just four minutes later. The game saw no further scoring, finishing 2-2, but there were plenty of chances for either team to win the match.
