Italy: Another classic penalty shoot out moment (+video)

Posted in European Football by peterbein on June 9, 2011

Following a recent video in which a penalty kick in a Moroccan Cup match was “saved” only to eventually find its way into the net after the goalkeeper had turned his back on the ball too early comes another incident in the same mould. This time it is an Italian seventh division play-off game involving Termeno and Dro who are both involved in a penalty shoot out and who need to win in order to gain promotion next season. Termeno’s Michael Palma hits the crossbar from his attempt, Termeno’s fourth in the shoot out, and he collapses on the floor in disappointment whilst the Dro goalkeeper Loris Angeli celebrates, running way outside of his goal in the process and neglecting to see just exactly where the ball ends up. Following a dramatic change of course after hitting the ground, the ball finds its way into the net leaving Dro needing to score their next penalty to keep their promotion chances alive……they missed!
